Home to Boston’s favourite beer, the Samuel Adams Brewery and tours are where you will learn about New England’s proud brewing heritage.
Samuel Adams is brewed to a century old family recipe, using the best Bavarian hops and two-row malted barley for a lager with a distinctive rich flavour, deep colour and full body.
Samuel Adams Lager has been brewed since 1984, when Jim Koch set up the Boston Beer Company. Koch followed his forefathers and their five generations of beer brewing after he found one of his great-great grandfather’s recipes hidden away in the attic. He tried the recipe out in his kitchen and Sam Adams was born – or at least the beer was.
Koch decided to name his beer after Samuel Adams, a Bostonian revolutionary and firebrand who fought for American Independence. Sam Adams was in fact one of the participants in the Boston Tea Party and like Koch’s forefathers (or forebeers!) Sam Adams was also a brewer.
In 1985 Samuel Adams Lager was stocked in just 25 bars and restaurants in Boston and today Sam Adams is ubiquitous throughout Boston and New England. Sam Adams is available in all 50 states and in more than 20 countries worldwide and includes 17 different beer styles and a line of impressive seasonal ales.
You can learn all this and more with a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery and afterwards sample a pint of Boston’s finest.
