Skiing in New Hampshire

New Hampshire is one of the prime skiing spots in New England, with a handful of excellent slopes situated in the White Mountains.

New Hampshire’s stunning White Mountains National Forest forms the perfect location for year round outdoor activities but during winter-time the White Mountains come into their own. There are around 20 ski slopes in New Hampshire and most are within the White Mountains.

Attitash in the Mount Washington Valley is one of the biggest and most popular ski resorts, with not just one but two ski-mountains. The resort provides 70 trails and glades along with the only 500 ft super pipe in the state and a terrain park unrivalled in the Mt Washington Valley. Attitash has trails for all levels of ability and can cater for all the family. The resort can be found on route 302 just outside the mountain village of Bartlett. Close by is the Bear Notch Ski Touring Centre with a 65km network of ski trails from beginner to challenging expert trails.

With 50 exhilarating trails, Loon Mountain in Lincoln is the second biggest resort in New Hampshire and has one of the region’s steepest vertical drops of 2,100 ft. Skiers and riders can explore 22 acres of glade runs, burn it up on the bumps or rip down the steeps. Or test yourself in the Loon’s signature terrain park and Superpipe. After a day on the slopes, you can enjoy the "apres" scene at the popular on-slope bars and restaurants.

Just outside Jackson in Pinkham Notch is Wildcat Mountain with 47 trails offering skiing fun for all the family. The Snowcat Novice Area is especially designed for beginners and the resort has a ski school for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. While for experts, the Wildcat Mountain summit has an elevation of 4,062 and one of the most continuous vertical drops in the White Mountains.

Another resort catering for families is Cranmore in North Conway. Families can ski and ride together on challenging yet child-friendly trails, while the resort also has fun snow toys and during the winter season hosts a range of events and entertainments for all the family. Cranmore also boasts innovative learning programs for skiers and riders from pre-school age and upwards.
